Story:
Finca La Esperanza is small farm in the San Agustin region of Huila consisting of only a hectare and a half. Faiber Bolanos tends to it and his mother’s slightly larger farm and has been doing so since 98’. The entire crop is harvested over two days, fermented for 48-72 hours, washed, and then loaded into a solar dryer for 15-30 days. Solar dryers are essentially controlled greenhouses used to manage the drying process, improve consistency, reduce exposure to pests and damage, and combat unfavorable weather. The downside is they are expensive to purchase and costly to maintain, but the result is undeniable.
This lot from Finca La Esperanza is clean, sweet, complex, and elegant–an outstanding and lovely Colombian coffee.
